Dr. Steven Bick

Dr Steve, the Chairman and founder of Sunshine With Smiles Trust (SWST), has been deeply committed to supporting The Gambia since his first visit in 2010. A UK-registered doctor, he brings his professional expertise and passion for helping others to the forefront of the charity’s mission.

Lamin Ceesay

Lamin Ceesay, originally from The Gambia, has spent more than half of his life in the UK. He studied Social and Life Skills at Lewisham College. With strong ties to The Gambia, Lamin ensures that SWST remains focused on addressing the local needs of the communities they serve. Professionally, he works as a Guest Experience Lead, building ambassador, and front-of-house customer service champion for Lloyd’s of London. At SWST, Lamin oversees multimedia and administration, bringing his extensive experience in community engagement to the charity.

Lamin has been a dedicated volunteer for over 16 years with his local groups at the Royal Borough of Greenwich in London, working on social inclusion and community cohesion initiatives. As a Public Relations Officer and Programs Coordinator for a local community project, he organised impactful events and programs, fostering positive change and collaboration within the community.

Treasurer

Jane Chapman

Jane joined the charity in January 2025 as the Treasurer, bringing with her 15 years of bookkeeping expertise gained from managing her husband’s company. Prior to this, Jane had a successful career in banking before dedicating 22 years to working in a local primary school.

After visiting The Gambia in November 2024, Jane became deeply committed to supporting the charity’s mission. She has a particular passion for improving the lives of children and enhancing educational opportunities in the schools we serve.

Public Relations and Communications Officer

Tony Chapman

Tony began his career in the financial services industry before founding his own highly successful plumbing company in 2005. After visiting a primary school in The Gambia in November 2024 and witnessing the challenging conditions in which children were being educated, Tony was inspired to take action.

In January 2025, Tony joined the charity to contribute his skills and expertise to our mission. He is now leading the project team dedicated to improving the school’s facilities, with plans to make a significant impact during the March 2025 initiative.
